MV Oberon

I was the only Engineer aboard this private vessel when we crossed the Atlantic on her maiden voyage after a complete refit. I spent nearly 4 months with this vessel, this was a once in a lifetime experience as I was responsible for everything from the main engine to the desalination plant right through to the purpose built freezers

This is my father Dick Barbé (Ex British National Champion) racing in class 4 at the end of 1973 and flying through the Le Goulliot Passage between Brecqhou and Sark in the Channel Islands.  I later had a lot of  involvement with this and many other pleasure and racing boats. This also included competing in the 1984 Everest Round Britain race as throttle man/Engineer
